DNA-Enhanced Cyborg-Rabbit

Hi folks! It's been a while!

This is a result of plenty hours of refinement, I did not intend to make any speedpaint, just focusing on design and rendering. Originally I did not intend to make any kind of rabbit in my early sketches, but in the end i didn't really know what else to call "it" =)
Did not use any kind of references, other than some vague inspiration of Unreal Tournament, with a more toonish mood to it.
Since i'm a big fan of making about one million different versions of my workfiles along the way (caused by some kind of paranoia?), i'm about to make a workflow process video, where i present images of my process step by step from the sketchbook in my backpack to texturizing in photoshop!

Enjoy!

Barbarian in the dessert - Diablo 3

This is my way to celibate the game we all are waiting for, soon to arrive in our hands. This painting contains an Barbarian inspired by the concept arts from Diablo III. The armor is my own design, but its pretty similiar with the designs by Blizzard. The landscape is very mush inspired from Diablo II, Act II. Its made in 16:9 format in resulotion 1920x1080, so feel free to use it as your wallpaper!

If you want to follow the progress, please watch my speed painting recording video at YouTube:

Anatomy Exercise

As I earlier mentioned i have focused on studying human anatomy, so I thought that it might be interesting to share my progress! It might not be much of a tutorial, but I'll post new more pedagogical tutorials as I further develop my own understanding of the human body.

Elder Orc Shaman

This piece is obviously inspired from Wold of Warcraft, but with no clear references more than memory and a portion of imagination.

Immersion

I was inspired to make my own interpretation of pendulums album cover for their newest album immersion.
Enjoy!

Sacred Assasin

During the summer I have done some occasional studies on human anatomy, and just recently made a quick look in figure drawing for fashion design, which inspired me to create this kind of character. I like the idea to combine fashion with technology, but I found out that its not that easy to bring something new to the table. My process have been to first create a rough sketch on the female body, which I refined with vivid lineart. Then on i have focused on playing with lines. Then added colors, applied some volume and bouncing lights as a finishing touch.

The Library of Truth

By inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, I wanted to create my own take of the white rabbit, all suited up and looking suspicious and mysterious. The Library of Truth is pretty much like any library, full of facts and knowledge. Which is wonderful in one point of view, but for another more like a curse since knowledge is hard to undo, for better or for worse. Like some people say "ignorance is a bliss" The door behind is like the metaphor to the rabbit hole, the more you read, the further you step in to the rabbit hole. The question is, how far are you willing to go down the rabbit hole?

Evil Kid

I had a dry of inspiration, therefore i used Jonas Swans tool NIG (No Idea Generatioir), which is available at his homepage at: http://www.m-artnature.se/gallery/
The application generated the words "Evil Kid" and "Pink Shirt", which kept my imagination going for some hours!

Digital Spirit

My aim was to create a futuristic robot with a touch of psycadelic style. This painting is more of an mind experiment, with no vivid references or inspiration. It just accidently looked somewhat alike ironman if you take a look at the upper body, but the rest is from my own mind brainstorming while listening to psy-trance like Infected Mushroom and Astrix.

Grunt of Spades

I aimed to create a futuristic skeleton grunt with a "cartoonish" mood, long and skinny legs with overly dimensionaled shoulder pads. Cant really point out any source of inspiration, its just something that I had in mind for some time and wanted to "put down on paper".

Retro Commersial

I was inspired by old Coca-Cola commercials and posters from the 50's, which really is art in its purest form. I used google picture search and found an artwork in my taste:

This picture is more of an exercise since the picture is already out there, but I wanted to learn this awesome retostyle for myself!
Hope you like!

Smokie

A concept on of a fictional character with inspiration from Nightmare before Christmas and Tim Burton kind of style.

Nightelf Amazon

You could say that this painting is some kind of merge between Top Model and World of Warcraft. What i first had in mind was a amazon woman with attitude, with a somewhat typical modelling pose. At the coloring stage I thought that the Night-elf pallete looked kind of neat, so here is the result!

Jennifer Connelly

This picture is originally about five years old, which I took the initiative to edit. It is painted from a reference picture of Jennifer Connelly. The changes I have done is croping the picture to make the eyes more intense, added more details overall and applied some light hues.

Twisted Dream Manufacturer

I was sitting on the train heading to Gothenburg and was somewhat bored out. I happened to find a random magazine with a man on the cover who had black curly hair (wouldn't tell who it was even if i remembered!). I was inspired to make my own interpretation of that man, make him dark and apply a kind of psycadelic twist on the poor fellow. When I arrived home i took my sketch and continued working on it in pPhotoshop, letting my imagination flow listening to Korn!

Angry Gnoll

This is from the beginning an old picture that I created in MS Paint, which I later on remade in Photoshop with techniques that I recently learned from the book Digital Painting Techniques. The beast is some kind of mix between a Tauren and a Gnoll from the World of Warcraft series.
